This art gallery and residence was designed to house a collection of contemporary painting and sculpture. The dual program is achieved using a system of parallel stone walls traversing the site's topography. The careful spacing and rhythm of the walls create varied public spaces for viewing the art collection. The interior volumes are arranged with carefully modulated natural light and dramatic views of the large stream that cuts through the site. The walls also afford the private domestic spaces of the house privacy and intimacy.
