Apparently, the houses in the Montes de Loreto area are boring and simple. They are built as resources are obtained for the construction budget, in addition to a very slow pace, it can take years, many times it is built by the inhabitants themselves, without a design and distribution criteria. So, when Rocío contacted us to renovate the spaces of the house she had purchased, we knew the challenge of this work, we were happy and very excited; we immediately realized that we wanted to go in the complete opposite direction; "we thought it was necessary to give each room a different treatment". Sounds simple enough until you consider the scope of the project. The new floor plan included an art studio on the second level, two bedrooms two full baths and a studio/library on the first level. First floor an entry foyer, an aerosol workshop, kitchen, living room, laundry room and central courtyard.

That means 11 different spaces in just 183 m2. Exposed materials, terracotta clay, mainly mosaic floors and polished cement were chosen immediately.

Each space in the renovation is small but does not feel small thanks to the strategic decision to include a central courtyard, made possible by demolishing the old stairwell of the original house.

After demolishing the walls that stood in the way of the planned kitchen, this was made possible by restructuring from the foundation up, the vast majority of the well-conceived elements of the original could be taken advantage of, the rest helped the proper use of light as they were demolished.

The strategic collaboration with Rocío Gordillo and Alejandro Mejía, inhabitants of the house, converges in the new interior sensation, the choice of finishes and furniture, the choice of figures and the art, curated by them, is an important complement to the project.
