nARCHITECTS has been commissioned by a leading Hong Kong developer to design the exteriors and interiors of a 30 story residential tower in Hong Kong. Currently under construction, the slender 400 foot (135m) tall building is rising in Sai Ying Pun, a burgeoning Hong Kong Central neighborhood characterized by new high rises interspersed amongst the older low density buildings. The building balances its iconic blade-like volume with connections to the scale of the neighborhood through small scale articulations in its massing and materials. Angled mirrored balcony soffits reflect the city and sky in new ways while from within, they act as mini periscopes to connect the residents to the vibrant street activity below. The building’s 250 studio, one and two bedroom units range between 200 – 350 sf (19-34m2), and feature high ceilings, full height glazing, and compact, efficient layouts that maximize their sense of spaciousness. In addition to restaurants and shops in the building’s base, residents will share amenity spaces including a clubhouse and sky garden. Completion is expected in 2018.
