Called fundamental(ism)s in an allusion to the general theme proposed by Rem Koolhaas, the Moroccan Pavilion explores the radical and experimental approaches inspired by the region. To narrate this adventure, the Moroccan Pavilion proposes an exhibition that juxtaposes the historical trajectory with a snapshot of the contemporary scene. The tension between the greater history of Morocco’s architecture and its contemporary output highlights a form of fluidity and continuity that is rather unique and specific to Morocco. The pavilion, where the projects are displayed on steles that emerge from a bed of sand, is designed to be experienced as a slowing down, a pause in the midst of the frenzy of the exhibition. A reversal of the relationship of the senses that makes a design concept inspired by the Sahara possible. Visitors are invited to experience this mythical desert and its vast horizontalness, in which the sky is a map, a navigational tool
